At the Gabba last week COHA Group was thrilled to co-sponsor an amazing gathering of sports industry colleagues, city shapers, and friends from the design, consultancy, sports organizations and Government sectors - at the "Towards 2032: Creating legacy for Qld Sport" event, organised by The Committee for Brisbane.
As a member of the CFB management committee, and co-hosting with our wonderful client the Brisbane Lions, it was a special night with insightful panel discussions on all things Games, sport, tennis, swimming and AFL. We celebrated not only the new Stadium at Victoria Park, the new international Aquatic Centre and the much needed expansion of Pat Rafter Arena, but the exciting road ahead as we collectively deliver the Games Delivery Plan and the legacy that will come after (and before!).
A great panel discussion by Rob Woodhouse, Cameron Pearson, and Sam Graham brilliantly moderated by Kendall Gilding giving us all a greater insight on what the Games Delivery Plan means for these sports but for the state and country more broadly.

** COHA PROJECT COMPLETION - BROTHERS 💡 LIGHTS UP 💡 IPSWICH **
Yesterday, COHA Group awarded Practical Completion to T2 Electrical & Data Pty Ltd. for the field lighting upgrade to the Brothers Juniors Rugby League Club, Ipswich.
The project was co-funded between BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB IPSWICH LTD, Brothers Juniors and the then DTS (now Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games) under its Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Fund. This important funding initiative from the Queensland Government encourages community sport and active recreation participation through the provision of quality, accessible, inclusive, and safe facilities.
Working through challenging ground conditions, a cyclone that didn`t happen, but a lot of rain that did, T2 worked around the challenges and have now delivered a minimum 100 lux (actually average 180 lux!) LED illumination with a significant reduction in running costs to boot. The new LED luminaires sit atop steel 20m high mid height hinged poles allowing for easy luminaire replacement and servicing without the need to hire cranes.
The Club partnered with COHA as its independent client side project manager, which we agree was an `enlightened` decision 💡 ...
The Juniors can now play under quality, uniform LED lighting saving the club power bills and allowing more night time participation with cheaper running costs.
At COHA we love to see the benefits first hand from the Government`s sports facilities funding programs, where the support of grass roots participation and physical wellbeing amongst our kids is so important.

** COHA PROJECT UPDATE - BRISBANE BASKETBALL AUCHENFLOWER REFURBISHMENT **
Work is progressing well at Brisbane Basketball Inc`s (BBI) Auchenflower home with the new roof now on and internal fit out works and rough-ins well under way.
COHA Group are proud to be providing client-side project management services for the Club, one of the largest basketball associations in South East Queensland.
This much needed redevelopment is being co-funded between BBI and the Queensland Government`s Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games, under its Community and Recreational Assets Recovery and Resilience Program (CRARRP) funding. This important funding initiative from the Queensland Government helps in the clean-up and repair of community and recreational assets damaged by the extraordinary disaster events in 2022.
A challenging building and site such as this requires strong collaboration and communication amongst the project team, and the project is in good hands with the team at iQ Construct and the design team, led by Open Architecture Studio.
BBI`s 5,000 + members (and growing) will look forward to playing games of basketball and gathering at the new redeveloped facilities in a few months` time where the storied history of this much-loved club and facility will open a new chapter.
Stay tuned for more news regarding this redevelopment and more.

** COHA PROJECT COMPLETION - BROTHERS RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB, IPSWICH **
Last month, COHA Group awarded Practical Completion to MELROSE Constructions for the refurbishment of the Ipswich Brothers Rugby League Football club`s change room refurbishment, in time for the upcoming footy season!
The project was co-funded between Brothers Leagues Club Ipswich and the then DTS (now Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games) under its Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Fund. This important funding initiative from the Queensland Government encourages community sport and active recreation participation through the provision of quality, accessible, inclusive, and safe facilities.
The Club`s existing tired Gym space was converted into two additional changerooms, while two existing oversized existing amenities were reconfigured and redesigned into four more functional unisex changeroom and player amenities facilities, with new finishes, joinery, and building services to all spaces, to a standard worthy of a premiership winning rugby league club.
The Club engaged COHA as its independent client side project manager, working with the Club`s architects, BSPN Architecture, who delivered a design that hit the mark, balancing functionality, aesthetics and a tight budget.
A competitive construct only contractor tender was awarded to MELROSE, who were set with a tight program by COHA of having the changerooms ready for the new season, and they achieved this target PC date on the money!
We are thrilled that this great rugby league club now have the quality facilities it deserves, and we wish them well for the season ahead!

** COHA PROJECT COMPLETION - GREENBANK SERVICES CLUB **
Earlier this month, COHA Group awarded Practical Completion to Paynters on the spectacular $19M redevelopment of the Greenbank Services Club, in one of Queensland`s most impressive club refurbishment projects.
We are proud to be entering into our 5th year of our relationship with Tim Wright and the team at Greenbank, and are proud to have delivered end-to-end client side project management services throughout the life of this amazing project.
The Club engaged COHA to facilitate an architectural competition for the project, which Altis Architecture won, and we worked hand in glove with Tim and the team throughout Concept design, design development, tendering, contractor procurement and tendering, and as Superintendent throughout the construction phase.
COHA managed an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contractor procurement methodology leading to a Design and Construct contract. The key pillars of our approach was to protect design quality while transferring risk away from the Club.
The results speak for themselves ..... and when we say the project was delivered on time and on budget - we actually mean it !
The procurement methodology we employed provided the foundation for strong risk management, where the project`s success was underpinned by a project team who bought into this methodology, helping to deliver a great result for the Club.
Altis Architecture produced a wonderfully crafted design which has been the talking point of the industry. Paynters delivered the design to a very high standard, working respectfully and collaboratively with COHA, the design team and Club throughout the project.
A thoroughly enjoyable project to be involved in - congratulations to all involved - and to name only a few >>> Tim Wright, Renee Lilii (CA), Grant Meredyth, Gary Biddlecombe, Daniel Muntz, Angel Crispin, Danielle Curley, Shiva Tabrizi, Paul Coory, Oni Ieong, and more ....

** "You Can`t Be What You Can`t See" **
The popularity of women’s sport continues to surge, and women`s rugby in Queensland is no different, with a new generation of young girls inspired through greater visibility of women’s competitions - from Super W to the NRLW.
With the 2032 Brisbane Olympics on the horizon, there is a golden opportunity to invest in local clubs, ensuring that young girls playing today have access to the facilities, coaching, and development programs needed to reach their full potential.
It was a pleasure for COHA Group to attend a gathering at GPS Rugby Club in Ashgrove where local businesses were given an exclusive showcase of the wonderful GPS facilities (project managed by COHA :)) and to hear first hand the Club`s plans to grow women and girls sport in the community.
Amazingly, only 2 years ago the club had 4 registered junior girl players - now boasting over 35 and growing to 50 very soon!
One of the club`s biggest supporters is local state Member for Cooper, Jonty Bush, who spoke at the event eloquently advocating for these girls and reminding us that "you can`t be what you can`t see" .... by empowering women`s sport creates an environment where young girls can prosper in their chosen sport.

We at COHA Group have been long time supporters of championing the participation of women in the construction industry and thoroughly enjoyed the years we supported WIDAC until they sadly ceased operations last year.
We are pleased to announce COHA have now joined National Association of Women in Construction (AU) (NAWIC), continuing our support of organizations that empower women in all industries, particularly ones that have traditionally been male dominated. NAWIC are pushing for 25% representation in 2025 .... for those who haven`t joined yet, please do ... see you at NAWIC events in 2025.

** COHA Announcement - Tasmania Devils Calls Kingston Home **
The Tasmanian Government has announced today that the construction of the AFL High-Performance Centre and Training Facility, the home of the Tasmania Devils Football Club, will be at Kingston, part of the new Kingborough Sports Precinct.
COHA Group were part of a team who undertook a substantial and thorough due diligence across multiple sites on behalf of the Tasmanian Government, the Club and AFL to help inform the site selection process, ensuring the optimum site chosen would best serve the operational needs of the club and best aligned with the project budget and program.
The Kingborough Sports Precinct offers an optimal location with established infrastructure, room for future expansion, and access to the Hobart CBD and nearby communities. This site provides accessibility for athletes and the public while complementing the vision for a state-of-the-art training and administrative hub for the Devils.
We are equally thrilled to be able to announce the star-studded consultant team who will join COHA Group in delivering this important and exciting sports infrastructure facility.

** COHA PROJECT UPDATE >> THE BARREL ROOM @ GREENBANK **
Looking for a pre-Christmas drink or bite to eat in luxurious and bespoke surrounds .... the newly completed Barrel Room at the Greenbank Services Club is the place to go. The enticing shiny copper Brite tanks glow like a beacon outside the Club in a window display that is hard to resist.
The new $20m club redevelopment is already shaping up to be a game changer as Stage 2 is about to be fully handed over this month.
The Barrel Room, with its craft beers on tap, warm timber detailing, cozy lounges, polished concrete floors and expansive glass facade allows it to reach outwards during the day and transition into a cozy internalized space at night.
There will be so much to see at Greenbank between now and Practical Completion in March 2025 ... and the Barrel Room is one not to be missed!

** COHA PROJECT COMPLETION I MORETON BAY BOAT CLUB **
COHA Group were thrilled to attend the official opening of the newly refurbished Moreton Bay Boat Club on Saturday! The house was buzzing with excitement, the drinks flowing and the patrons singing the praises of the Board and club management for their successful reinvestment and reinvigoration of their beloved club.
Only a few short months ago, the Club approached COHA Group to project manage the delivery of its renovations by November, with not many months left in the year! The task - complete the project before Melbourne Cup or defer to next year. Challenge accepted!
We quickly set a project delivery strategy in motion, enabling Farrago Constructions to mobilize swiftly. With a target practical completion date in late October, we assisted the club with OLGR applications and approvals, working closely with the consultant team and contractor to ensure everything was ready by Melbourne Cup morning.
A full reconstruction of their front bar, back of house and relocation of the gaming lounge was no small feat, but a collaborative attitude between contractor, club, design team and the COHA project management team, ensured the club were trading at full capacity in the lead up to Christmas.
A big thank you to Bill, Liz, and the Board of Moreton Bay Boat Club for trusting COHA Group with this project and for their kind words at the opening.
When you`re on the peninsula, pop into Moreton Bay Boat Club for great food, magnificent service and renowned Moreton Bay hospitality.

** COHA PRACTICAL COMPLETION - ALL HALLOWS` SCHOOL **
COHA Group are pleased to have issued Practical Completion earlier this week to Landscape Solutions for the St Gertrudes Precinct revitalization project, at the wonderful All Hallows` School.
The life of an All Hallows’ student is multi-dimensional where the wellbeing of its students are a priority through encouraging healthy and positive relationships, connections and resilience. The school boasts uniquely beautiful grounds, historic buildings and green spaces, which are a premium for an inner city based campus.
At the northern end of the school campus, sits St Gertrude`s Lawn, up until recently, an underutilized external space that once played an important role in the early days of the School, serving as a gathering place for students, fostering a sense of community, where students and staff enjoyed moments of reflection, study, and camaraderie.
COHA Group has been engaged by the school as client-side Project Managers and Superintendent to assist the design and construction team deliver this beautiful external space.
Congratulations to the team at Landscape Solutions and Solutions + Co for delivering this project, based on a wonderful vision by the School, beautifully and thoughtfully executed by Place Design Group.
Students will soon return to `St Gerties` to once again learn, play, contemplate and reflect in these beautiful surrounds and we can`t wait to see them use this space as their own.

Earlier this week, some of the COHA Group team had the opportunity to tour the ongoing renovations at Greenbank Services Club, a project that promises to transform the club into the premier hospitality and entertainment venue in Clubland. We witnessed firsthand the amazing progress that is being made.
This Club redevelopment is more than just a facelift; it’s a dramatic repositioning of an already leading club, taking it to a new level of experiential design.
Stage 2 works are scheduled for completion in late October .... with full completion in March 2025. It won`t be long until names such as Barrel Room, Market Place, the Glass House and so on will be synonymous with Greenbank ... and synonymous with the best in club dining, F+B and entertainment experiences.
As we approach the final stages of this ambitious project, we are filled with anticipation for what’s to come.

The team at COHA Group are thrilled to welcome back Oni Ieong, who has re-joined the COHA team after 10 months maternity leave, where she ushered her second child into the world. Oni has been an integral part of our team for almost four years and we are thrilled to have her back.
Oni`s dedication, expertise and ability to get the best out of herself and consultant teams have made her a favourite with clients and project teams generally. We will continue to support her in her professional journey and her more important journey as a mother of two.
Oni’s smooth transition back to work is further supported by her husband, who was able to take parental leave. We are proud to be in a country that supports parental leave for both working parents, which plays such an important part in primary carers transition smoothly back into work, which helps promote shared parenting responsibilities, gender equality, a healthier work-life balance and a more inclusive workplace.
Welcome back, Oni and we look forward to seeing her do great things.🎉

Last weekend COHA Group attended the official opening of Urban Climb Pty Ltd`s first indoor bouldering facility in Adelaide, located in the heart of the city`s CBD.
Featuring 5 unique bouldering walls, a café, lots of "chill spaces", amenities and some of the coolest and most challenging climbs in Australia, this facility opened its doors to hoards of new foundation members and bouldering fanatics.
